On the 16th May, Dr Julia Shaw, together with Eleanor Laws QC, will present a seminar exploring memories as evidence in legal proceedings. Dr Shaw will discuss the science behind false memories, self-deception and how our memory system really works, with consideration given to how law enforcement agencies can use tactics that may lead people to recall crimes that never occurred. Eleanor Laws QC will provide an update on the admissibility of Expert Memory Evidence as it applies to our legal system.
In an era where historical criminal allegations have become more commonplace and the role of the memory increasingly important, we hope to provide a thought-provoking seminar that will stimulate discussion amongst our guests.
A reception will follow the talk, with refreshments and canapés.
