Bacon College and Bishop Thomas Grant took part in QEB Hollis Whiteman’s Annual South London Schools Mock Trial Competition, yesterday.
As part of our outreach programme, the Mock Trial Competition intends to make the law, the Bar and being a barrister more accessible to all, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds.
There are four separate stages to the advocacy programme: an essay and video presentation round, a case analysis and preparation session, followed by the mock trial itself. Two weeks ago, the candidates met with members of chambers to prepare their advocacy and yesterday’s mock trial provided the opportunity for them to put into practice what they had learnt.
QEB Hollis Whiteman hope that this competition provides opportunity, support and inspiration in a field that can so often be inaccessible to many.
With thanks to HHJ Peter Clarke KC for presiding over the trial, to Fallon Alexis, Kyan Pucks and Harriet Dixon for all of their work in making this happen and to all others involved for their support.
