Today at Southwark Crown Court, the Recorder of Westminster, His Honour Judge Alastair McCreath, stayed the prosecution of former X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos and her friend, the artist and rapper Mike GLC Coombs, as an abuse of the Court's process.
The judge concluded that there were grounds for believing that the key prosecution witness, Mazher Mahmood, better known as 'The Fake Sheikh', had lied during the course of his evidence at a three-day abuse of process hearing in June 2014.
Rhys Meggy, instructed by Ellen Peart and Ollie Al Falah of BCL Burton Copeland, represented Mike GLC Coombs from the outset of the Crown Court proceedings, appearing as junior alone in the abuse of process hearing in June 2014 and the renewal of that application, resulting in the stay, in July.
