Eleanor Laws QC is representing Johnny Depp in his libel action against News Group Newspapers and the Sun’s executive editor, Dan Wootton, over an article published in 2018 that referred to the film star as a “wife beater”. The trial begins today.
The article related to allegations made against Mr Depp by Amber Heard, that he was violent towards her during their marriage. Mr Depp strenuously denies the claims.
