Ben FitzGerald acted for the Crown in the successful prosecution of French couple Ouissem Medouni and Sabrina Kouider for the murder of their au pair Sophie Lionnet.
The two defendants earlier pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice by burning the body of their au pair Ms Lionnet in the back garden of their home in Southfields. The jury heard that the defendants developed an obsession with the idea that Ms Lionnet had been recruited by Mark Walton, a founding member of the pop group Boyzone, to facilitate the physical and sexual abuse of the family. Evidence was adduced showing a prolonged process of interrogation and physical violence leading to Ms Lionnet’s death.
