Paul Hastings and QEB Hollis Whiteman co-hosted a joint in-person and live-streamed seminar on the overturned bribery convictions of ex-Unaoil executive, Ziad Akle.

Jonathan Pickworth chaired the evening, and Adrian Darbishire QC, Joanna Dimmock and Mark Aldred considered the strategies they adopted at trial and in their successful application to the Court of Appeal, which focused on the conduct of the SFO.

The Court of Appeal described aspects of the SFO's conduct as “wholly inappropriate” and associated disclosure failings as "particularly regrettable given that some of the documents had a clear potential to embarrass the SFO in their prosecution of this case".
