Philip Stott gives evidence to House of Lords Select Committee.

On Wednesday 23 October, Philip Stott testified before the Public Services Committee of the House of Lords on ‘Interpreting and translation services in the courts’. He did so in his role as Co-Chair of the Legal Services Committee on the Bar Council.

Giving evidence alongside Philip was his co-chair, Susan Grocott KC, a family law silk, and Richard Millar of the Law Society. The witnesses spoke about the ‘on-the-ground’ experiences of practitioners, in particular regarding the quality and availability of suitably qualified and competent interpreters and the potential role of AI.
