Bacon College and Bishop Thomas Grant take part in QEB Hollis Whiteman’s Annual South London Schools Mock Trial Competition.
As part of our outreach programme, the Mock Trial Competition intends to make the law, the Bar and being a barrister more accessible to all, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds.
There are four separate stages to the advocacy programme; an essay and video presentation round have already taken place and today the winners begin the advocacy stage of the competition. The candidates will meet with members of chambers to prepare their advocacy. The members of chambers include Zoe Johnson KC, Jocelyn Ledward, Orla Daly, Jennifer Newcombe, Fallon Alexis and pupil Harrie Austin-Jones. The competitors return in two weeks for a mock trial with HHJ Peter Clarke KC presiding.
QEB Hollis Whiteman hope that this competition provides opportunity, support and inspiration in a field that can so often be inaccessible to many.
