Eloise Emanuel represented the Defendant since November 2016 across 3 separate trials. He faced a number of very serious offences including Human Trafficking, contrary to s.2 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, and the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
The Defence served 3 separate applications in relation to those offences: an Application to Dismiss, a Motion to Quash and an Abuse of Process Argument. Following a 3 hour hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday 30th June 2017, both the Application to Dismiss and Motion to Quash were successful, obviating the need to argue the Abuse application, and bringing the Crown Court proceedings to an end. The Defendant was awarded nearly £10,000 in Wasted Costs against the Crown following application by the Defence at the conclusion of the case. The Defendant is to be released from custody immediately.
Eloise was instructed by Ms Suna Rajpoot of Bhoghal Partners.
