Five men who illegally streamed Premier League football matches to tens of thousands of people have been handed jail sentences in excess of 30 years.
The gang sold cut-price £10-a-month subscriptions, bragging they made money showing games not otherwise available to watch live in the UK because of "blackout" broadcasting rules. This illicit streaming operation, understood to be the largest of its type apprehended anywhere in the world, received more than £7 million from 50,000 subscribers a month.
The Premier League worked with FACT to track down the offenders and brought legal action against them in a private prosecution which David Groome and Ari Alibhai were instructed in.
