Alstom is a multi-national conglomerate with its headquarters in Paris. It is engaged in the transport and power markets. This case involved a multi-phase prosecution of the corporate and individuals in relation to bribery allegations occurring in multiple countries involving millions of pounds.
Mark Ellison QC represented Mr Jean-Daniel Lainé, the global head of compliance alleged to have acted ‘as the company’ and sole basis for prosecution of the company. He was acquitted. Mark was instructed by Stephen Pollard of WilmerHale.

David Spens QC and Philip Evans QC represented Nicholas Reynolds, the Global Sales and Technology Director for bribery in respect of two contracts worth €225 million to refurbish a Lithuanian power station in 2004-2005.
