R v Bell (2011)

Tom Broomfield was instructed by Islington Trading Standards Service to prosecute a fraudulent trading case.

The defendant was alleged to have sent hundreds of invoices, which asked for payment for inclusion in a Business and Web Directory that did not exist, to businesses across the United Kingdom. The potential benefit of the fraud was over £250,000. The defendant was found guilty after trial and made subject to a suspended sentence of imprisonment. Tom advised pre-charge and had conduct of the case throughout.
