Five gang-members have been prosecuted for their involvement in the murder of Billy McCullagh during a shootout in what is thought to be a legal first.
The victim, Billy McCullagh, 27, died following a gunfight in July 2020 in Harlesden, north-west London. Individuals from the opposing gang who fired upon him were not identified by investigators and members of Mr McCullagh’s own side were prosecuted for their involvement in his death. It was decided they were responsible for his death because they engaged in a shoot-out knowing it was a virtual certainty that the other side would fire back.
Issa Seed, Adel Yussuf and Daniel Mensah were convicted of murder, conspiracy to commit GBH with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. Leeban Farah was convicted of perverting the course of justice. George Orji was convicted of firearms offences.
