R v Choudhry (2010)

William Boyce QC and Jocelyn Ledward prosecuted this high-profile case of the attempted murder of Stephen Timms MP at his constituency surgery in East London.

The defendant claimed to have acted out of punishment and revenge for Mr. Timms' Parliamentary vote in support of war in Iraq. She refused to recognise the jurisdiction of the court to try her, but was convicted in her absence, and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum team of 15 years.
