Ben FitzGerald acted as junior prosecution counsel, together with Mark Ellison QC, in this historic murder case.
Rahman was accused of being one of the armed assailants of a Bangladeshi man in a frenzied attack in a residential street in Islington in 1997.
The case turned on complex DNA evidence obtained from masks discarded at the scene, and was made possible by covert surveillance conducted by the FBI to obtain Rahman’s DNA profile following Rahman’s escape to the USA immediately after the killing. Ben and Mark also secured the conviction of another attacker, Moheuddin Bablu, in 2012. (Central Criminal Court)
