Peter Finnigan QC and Eloise Emanuel were instructed by CPS London, in the 4 week trial of David Gikawa, who was sentenced at the Central Criminal Court to life imprisonment with a minimum of 21 years for the murder of Linah Keza.
Baljit Ubhey, CPS London Chief Crown Prosecutor, said: "This was an appalling case of domestic violence fuelled by jealousy and control which led to the death of Linah Keza. David Gikawa murdered Linah in her own home in front of their young child.
"In the days before the murder Linah had tried to break free from her turbulent relationship with Gikawa but he was determined not to let that happen. In the early hours of the 31 July 2013 Gikawa made his way to his former partner's flat in Leyton and stabbed her to death with a kitchen knife.
"CPS London is committed to working with our criminal justice partners to tackle domestic violence. I hope this conviction will give some small comfort to Ms Kezas family, our thoughts are with them at this time."
