R v McSweeny (2015)

Crispin Aylett QC prosecuted retired fireman Collin McSweeny for the murder of his adopted son Shaun Mcsweeny.

Crispin prosecuted retired fireman Collin McSweeny, 59, who was found guilty of murdering his adopted son Shaun Mcsweeny, 24, with a scaffolding pole. A dispute had occurred following Shaun McSweeny’s news on moving out of the family home with his daughter. Collin McSweeny was allegedly worried about his granddaughter’s welfare and wanted custody of the child which provoked the disagreement prior to murdering his son.
