Boxing Day stabber receives life sentence.
In the early hours of 26 December 2019, Taner Saltan, 28, attacked a 39 year old man waiting by a bus stop in Green Lanes, north London. He chased up a side road and stabbed his victim, severing an artery in his leg, before fleeing. The victim’s heart stopped for 20 mins but his life was saved by emergency heart surgery conducted at the roadside by the London Helicopter Emergency Medical Service. Mr Saltan was sentenced on 1 July 2021 at Wood Green Crown Court, having pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent. His Honour Judge John Dodd QC imposed a life sentence with a minimum period of seven year and four months to be served before the defendant would be eligible for parole.
