The defendant was charged with the murder of Abdi Mohamed, who worked at an insurance company with which the defendant had been in touch on a number of occasions in the period leading up to the fatal attack on 8 June 2021. The contact between the defendant and the deceased and the insurance company had become increasingly unusual. The defendant was later to say that the insurance company had defrauded him of his savings - there is no evidence at all that this was, or even could have been, true.
On 8Th June 2021 the defendant purchased a knife, drove his van to outside the offices of the company, asked the deceased to come to the van with him to inspect some apparent damage whereupon the defendant stabbed the victim a number of times in a frenzied, determined and terrifying attack.
The Defendant pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life with a minimum of 12 years.
Edward Brown was instructed by CPS.
