Sean Larkin KC and Tom Doble acted for Terence Lock, a legal consultant for a London firm of criminal solicitors, charged with assisting and encouraging an organised crime group implicated in the supply of over 100,000 kilos of cocaine.
Mr Lock was charged after the police recovered Encrochat messages exchanged between senior members of the organised crime group, said to show Mr Lock providing legal advice and communicating information to assist or encourage the supply of drugs and money laundering.
Mr Lock was today acquitted after the judge ruled that there was no case to answer, the defence having raised a series of legal arguments concerning the admissibility of evidence and legal professional privilege.
Mr Larkin KC and Mr Doble were instructed by Peter Walsh of Shaw Graham Kersh solicitors.
