LM and WM were married for 23 years before their marriage ended in late 2021. Shortly after the separation, WM started a new relationship with a younger woman. Between March and October 2022, LM sent WM numerous emails each day containing deeply personal and insulting attacks upon his new partner.
LM accepted that the emails she sent were grossly offensive but maintained that it was not her purpose to cause WM or his new partner anxiety or distress.
After deliberating for two hours, the jury unanimously acquitted LM of sending malicious communications.
