Linda Strudwick acted as Prosecution Counsel, Gobbato was a professional con artist. He falsely claimed to be an NHS qualified doctor - allegations of sexual assault and fraud.
The defendant targeted vulnerable immigrant women from Brazil. He sexually assaulted them whilst purporting to undertake necessary clinical intimate examinations. He intentionally misdiagnosed children as having life threatening illnesses in order to obtain money from their parents. He used his acting ability to convince health professionals that he was mentally and physically unfit for trial. Only the tenacity of the prosecution team finally ensured his successful prosecution.
