Philip Evans QC defended an individual in a pro-bono case for the Cardiff University Innocence project. The case was successful, the appellant having his conviction overturned some years after he completed a 7 year sentence for a serious sexual offence. The case was ground-breaking in that it dealt with the treatment of vulnerable defendants.
Counsel was instructed by the Cardiff University Pro-Bono unit and Shanahan’s Cardiff.
The case was widely reported in the press by the BBC.
