Kerry Broome defended Nicholas Lidstone, a former police officer who pleaded guilty to 13 offences of child abuse which include multiple allegations of rape.
He was sentenced to 14 and a half years’ imprisonment. However the prosecution referred the sentence to the Court of Appeal, which termed the appellant’s conduct “depraved” and substituted a term of 20 years’ imprisonment.
