Alexandra Felix led Tom Coke-Smyth, prosecuting a gang who smuggled asylum seekers into the UK by using their relatives and fake passports.
A gang of men were profiting up to £9,000 for each individual family that they managed to successful smuggle into the UK. The men were using their relatives or fake passports to smuggle as many as 70 asylum seekers into the UK over a five year period before they were caught.
'Alexandra Felix described the conspiracy as a ‘cynical money-making enterprise’ which allowed Afghan immigrants to enter the UK ‘masquerading as genuine passport-holders’'
A prison sentence of a total of 19 years was given to the men involved in running this operation.
