Ruth represented the first defendant on the indictment, charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. The Crown alleged that SM and others had attacked the complainant causing injuries that led him to be deemed medically blind in one eye. Following trial, the jury returned unanimous "not guilty" verdicts.
