On Friday 13 September, at Wood Green Crown Court, HHJ Perrins sentenced six men for conspiracy to supply class A drugs following an earlier eight-week trial in which Mr Smart lead on behalf of the prosecution.
Asfa Allen, a grime artist who performs under the name Asco, was handed a 12-and-a-half year sentence, having been found guilty of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
Mr Allen had operated as the leader of a criminal network distributing heroin and crack cocaine from London to Colchester, Essex.
Akwasi Kwateng was found guilty of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and was given a seven-year sentence. Donovan Corbett was given a nine-year sentence, Bradley Ashley-Faponle was given nine years and nine months, and Denzel Nimoh was given five years and seven months.
Sentencing for Kai Lye was adjourned pending inquiries into allegations that he smuggled drugs and a mobile phone into the dock during the sentencing hearing.
