Susannah Stevens assisted by Nadesh Karu successfully applied for a judicial review of the IPCC’s handling of a complaint made against them by a Metropolitan Police Federation Representative.
The judicial review hearing took three days, involving complex arguments of law and fact. The complaint followed the IPCC-led investigation into the conduct of police officers involved in the Sean Rigg case, and evidence given at the subsequent inquest. The IPCC made the decision to arrest a Police Federation Representative for perverting the course of justice, on the basis of his telephone contact with the officers he had been assisting. Assisted by Nadesh Karu, contra: Alan Maclean QC. Instructed by Anthea Christie, Pattinson Brewer.
