In October 2018 Valero Energy UK Ltd and B&A Contracts admitted health and safety charges relating to four deaths and further serious injury caused by an explosion in June 2011 at the Pembroke refinery, then owned by Chevron Ltd.

A sentencing hearing before Mr Justice Lewis concluded in Swansea on 2nd May 2019, and judgment will be given on 6th June 2019.
