Michael Hornung was sentenced to four and half years in prison for selling an estimated 2,700 specially configured television set top boxes between 2014 and 2017, which enabled unlawful access to subscription television from SKY, BT and Virgin Media Ltd, as well as thousands of on-demand films and pay-per-view content. Hornung’s activities resulted in a potential loss of up to £2 million to the broadcasters and rights’ holders targeted and generated approximately £350,000 in fraudulent income.
The case was brought by FACT, who instructed Ari Alibhai to undertake the private prosecution.
