Anne Whyte QC acted for the Greater Manchester Police in a public inquiry into the shooting by a firearms officer of an unarmed suspect Anthony Grainger during a police firearms operation and serious crime investigation by the Greater Manchester Police.
Anne was also instructed in the subsequent civil proceedings and has now been instructed in the application for Judicial Review in which the deceased’s mother seeks to argue that the prohibition of the use of intercept material in criminal proceedings is incompatible within Article 2 of the ECHR.
Counsel was instructed by Sandra Pope of Greater Manchester Police.
This public inquiry was reported widely in the press by BBC, the Telegraph, and the Guardian.
