Philip Stott represented a General Practitioner, Dr P, who was an interested party at the inquest into the death of Abigail Hall, 18, who died shortly after starting her first term at Sheffield Hallam University.
The GP had seen the deceased at a walk-in session one day before her collapse and admission to hospital. The Coroner found that the deceased had died an accidental death due to complications arising from viral gastroenteritis, and that the GP consultation had not on the balance of probabilities presented a missed opportunity to prevent the loss of life.
Philip Stott was instructed to appear at the South Yorkshire Coroner’s Court by Sara Mason of the Medical Defence Union.
