Selva Ramasamy QC represented a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology who was granted Interested Person status in a 9-day inquest into the death of a mother and baby in a maternity unit.
Selva’s client had been wrongly singled out for criticism in a case where there had been systematic failures in the hospital. The Coroner stopped the inquest and granted Interested Person status to a senior doctor as a result of the issues Selva had brought to light.
Counsel was instructed by Venessa Holt of the Medical Defence Union.
