The Registrant was a Social Worker and was accused of making a grossly inappropriate and racist comment to a colleague in the context of an innocent exchange about the making of a cup of tea. The case was widely reported in the press. The Registrant maintained that the comment was not racist or indeed inappropriate. The Panel determined that it was and that the Registrant’s fitness to practice was impaired.
