Susannah Stevens was instructed to represent two officers facing a gross misconduct hearing, as a result of an allegation of racial misconduct, made by a fire-fighter following the London riots. The case was directed by the IPCC and there was considerable national media attention. The defence disclosure requests unearthed failures by the IPCC. Susannah lodged disclosure and abuse of process skeleton arguments. After a week the IPCC withdrew the direction and apologised to the officers. The IPCC Commissioner has now stood down and is the subject to a criminal investigation.
