This was a complex case representing an officer accused of discriminatory language/behaviour.
PC was himself of BAME background. Principal evidence from colleagues and the case against him arose following his own complaints about his acting Custody Sergeant. Both Officers were joined in proceedings before the tribunal. Issues argued about the appropriateness of joinder in these circumstances. This was a lengthy hearing with extensive witness cross examination, resulted in a set of favourable findings which allowed the PC to retain his job. Not all charges were proved.
Paul Wakerley was instructed by Hempsons.
