Paul Wakerley, instructed by John Downes of Slater and Gordon, successfully represented a Met Police Constable who kept his job following a finding of a breach of police standards relating to punches thrown by the officer to the face of a detained male entering custody at Charing Cross Police Station.
The panel was persuaded that the officer had acted defensively, albeit that they found the force he used was disproportionate. He was given a final written warning at the two day misconduct hearing in central London.
